Solutions

40.(D) None of the above

Reported speech shifts the pronoun, the tense and the words of place and time together. The correct form is 'He said that he was glad to be there that evening.' Option (b) shifts the pronoun and tense but keeps 'here' and 'this evening', which belong to the speaker's original situation. Option (c) misreports a plain statement as an exclamation and also drops the verb 'be'. So none of (a), (b) or (c) is correct, and the answer is (d), 'None of the above'.

41.(B) He said that the horse had died in the night.

The reporting verb is in the past. So a simple past in the reported clause moves one step back to the past perfect. 'The horse died in the night' becomes 'that the horse had died in the night'. The original is a plain statement with no exclamation. So 'said' is the right reporting verb, and options (c) and (d) with 'exclaimed' are ruled out.

Common questions about Narration in PPSC

How many Narration questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 2 Narration questions across 2 papers between 2017. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 2 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Narration questions repeated?

Not in this set — each of these 2 was set once in the years covered. Questions elsewhere in the book do repeat, and carry a badge saying how often.

Where can I get Narration MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 2 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Narration questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 2 of these plus the rest of the English section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Narration

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
