MedLEaPR links police, courts, health institutions and nine forensic science laboratories, and integrates with CCTNS to match missing-person and unidentified-deceased records — complementing the national mortuary standards notified earlier this month.
IIT Madras and UNESCO MGIEP Partner to Develop AI-Based Immersive Learning Tools
IIT Madras signed an agreement with UNESCO MGIEP — the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development — to build Artificial Intelligence-based immersive learning technologies for global education systems. The pact, signed in the presence of Obijiofor Aginam (Director, UNESCO MGIEP) along with Manu Santhanam and M Manivannan of IIT Madras, blends AI, Extended Reality (XR) and game design with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Chhattisgarh Tops Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 3.0 under Catch the Rain Campaign
Chhattisgarh secured the first position nationally in the third phase of Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB 3.0), the community-driven water conservation programme run under the Ministry of Jal Shakti's Catch the Rain campaign. SEBI and ESMA Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation on Central Counterparties
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen cooperation and information exchange on Central Counterparties (CCPs) regulated by SEBI. Signed by SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey and ESMA Chair Verena Ross, it replaces their earlier 2017 agreement. The MoU lets SEBI-supervised Indian CCPs re-apply for ESMA recognition under Article 25 of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR), and allows ESMA to rely on SEBI's supervision of those clearing houses. A CCP interposes itself between buyer and seller to manage counterparty risk and settle trades, making the pact important for India–EU cross-border clearing.
UNEP 'Limiting Overshoot' Report Says Breaching 1.5°C Warming Is Now Unavoidable
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released 'Limiting Overshoot: Navigating exceedance of 1.5°C and pathways towards return', concluding that the world will most likely temporarily breach the 1.5°C warming threshold above pre-industrial levels within the next few years. Even under an optimistic scenario, global surface temperature is projected to peak at about 1.8°C; under current policies it reaches 2.6°C by 2100. Birkbeck, University of London Gets UGC Approval for Bengaluru Campus

Bank of Canada Unveils CAD 20 Note Featuring King Charles III
The Bank of Canada unveiled a new CAD 20 banknote carrying the image of King Charles III, the first British monarch to appear on a Canadian note in over seven decades and the first change since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. Razorpay and IndusInd Bank Launch AI Account Manager 'RAY' on WhatsApp
Razorpay, in partnership with IndusInd Bank, launched 'RAY', a conversational Artificial Intelligence account manager on WhatsApp for businesses. RAY lets MSMEs manage payments, analyse transactions, generate payment links, issue refunds and resolve queries through simple chat messages, executing actions directly without a dashboard while tracking payment health and pushing alerts, insights and recommendations. Bajaj Finserv is among the first live users, and the platform has already recorded over 20,000 conversations, signalling a shift towards AI-led, real-time business support in Indian fintech. DRDO and University of Hyderabad Win Patent for Next-Generation Rocket Propellant BAM-H24
DRDO and the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials (ACRHEM) at the University of Hyderabad secured an Indian patent for BAM-H24, a next-generation solid rocket propellant fuel. The Patent Office granted Patent No. 599900 on 20 August 2026 on an application filed in December 2022. Developed by Dr Muddamarri Hanumantha Rao and Prof Muralidharan Krishnamurthi, BAM-H24 is a boron-, hydrogen- and nitrogen-rich energetic compound usable as a solid rocket fuel, fuel additive and burn-rate accelerator. It offers high chemical and thermal stability, low impact and friction sensitivity, non-hygroscopic behaviour, high specific impulse and reduced ignition delay for missiles and space launch vehicles.
NHAI Announces Winners of Green Highways Excellence Awards 2026
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced the winners of the Green Highways Excellence Awards 2026, instituted in 2025 under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' Green Highways Policy, 2015 to reward best practices in highway landscaping and plantation management. NHAI received 86 nominations across three categories — 27 for Avenue Plantations, 36 for Median Plantations and 23 for Plantation in Land Parcels — of which 15 (five per category) were shortlisted for final evaluation. The Chilakaluripet Bypass on NH-16 near Vijayawada won Avenue Plantations; the Hyderabad–Yadgiri stretch on NH-163 won Median Plantations; and the Jamtha Clover Leaf on NH-44 at Nagpur topped Plantation in Land Parcels.
Keyaa Banerji Wins Deadlift Silver at IPF World Junior Classic Powerlifting Championships
Indian powerlifter Keyaa Kunal Banerji won the silver medal in the deadlift at the 2026 IPF World Sub-Junior and Junior Classic Powerlifting Championships in Sun City, South Africa. Competing in the Junior Women's 47 kg category, the 21-year-old lifted 140 kg at a bodyweight of 45.70 kg - more than three times her own bodyweight. NIELIT and Intel India Launch Agentic AI Skilling Programmes at National Leadership Dialogue

Veteran Gujarati Music Composer Gaurang Vyas Passes Away at 87
Gujarati music composer, arranger and singer Gaurang Vyas died at the age of 87 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Born on 24 November 1938 in Mumbai, he was the son of the celebrated composer Avinash Vyas and began as his father's assistant on *Jesal Toral* before his independent debut with *Lakho Phulani*. He scored music for over 100 films, including *Bhavni Bhavai*, *Maniyaro* and *Liludi Dharati*, and produced devotional and folk albums such as *Jalaramni Jhumpdi* and *Kahat Kabir*. Axis Bank and Scapia Launch Co-Branded Travel Credit Card
Axis Bank and travel fintech Scapia launched the co-branded 'Scapia Axis Bank Credit Card' aimed at digitally native Indian travellers. Supreme Court Hosts BRICS Chief Justices' Forum 2026 in New Delhi
The Supreme Court of India is hosting the BRICS Chief Justices' Forum 2026 in New Delhi from 4 to 6 September 2026, with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant leading the proceedings.
