About IBPS PO
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) issued notification CRP PO/MT-XVI for the Common Recruitment Process to select Probationary Officers / Management Trainees across 11 participating public sector banks. Registration ran from 1 July to 21 July 2026 (extended to 26 July) and has now closed, with roughly 11 lakh applications received. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 22 and 23 August 2026 and the Main Examination for 4 October 2026.
Selection is a two-tier online examination — a Preliminary Exam (objective, 100 marks) and a Main Exam (objective 200 marks + a descriptive paper of 25 marks) — followed by a Personality Test and a Common Interview conducted by the participating banks. Candidates who clear all stages are provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks on a merit-cum-preference basis.
IBPS revised the vacancy count upward on 20 July 2026, from the 6,715 announced originally to 7,365 indicative posts for 2027-28. With a starting scale of ₹48,480–85,920 plus allowances and an all-India banking career, IBPS PO 2026 is a landmark opportunity.
