The Government of Maharashtra and the German federal state of Hesse signed an MoU at Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai, covering investment, industry, innovation, employment and skill development. Karnataka's Food Safety Division has prohibited the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of analogue paneer sold as "paneer" for one year, from 17 August 2026 to 17 August 2027. Analogue paneer mimics dairy paneer but substitutes vegetable oil or vegetable fat for milk fat and milk solids. The Food Safety Commissioner issued the order under Sections 30(2)(a), 18 and 29 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006; it covers dairy analogues lacking FSSAI-prescribed standards, while processed cheese, frozen desserts and mixed fat spreads stay exempt. Health Minister U. T. Khader warned hotels using substitutes. Karnataka joins Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
