About SBI Clerk
State Bank of India has released advertisement CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16 — a Special Recruitment Drive for 1,538 Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) posts in the clerical cadre, against SC, ST and OBC backlog vacancies across its circles. Online registration and fee payment are open from 7 August 2026 to 27 August 2026 on SBI's careers portal. Only SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates can apply; PwBD and Ex-servicemen candidates apply under their respective parent category.
Selection is a two-tier online examination — a Preliminary Exam (100 marks, screening only) followed by a Main Exam (200 marks) — and a qualifying test of the specified opted local language for provisionally selected candidates who did not study that language in Class 10th or 12th. There is no interview: the merit list is drawn from Main Examination marks alone, State-wise and category-wise.
Recruitment is State/UT-wise: a candidate applies for one State/UT only, must be proficient in that State's specified local language, and is posted in that State on selection. Punjab has 18 posts (OBC, Punjabi/Hindi), Chandigarh UT 22 (OBC), and Rajasthan 106 (SC 20 + ST 86, Hindi). The regular SBI Clerk 2026-27 notification is expected separately — this drive covers backlog vacancies only.
- 1,538 posts reserved entirely for SC (207), ST (1,219) and OBC (112) — the applicant pool is limited to these categories, so effective competition is far lower than an open drive.
- No interview: the Main Examination score alone decides the State-wise, category-wise merit list.
- Graduation in any discipline qualifies (as on 31.12.2026) — final-year students may apply provisionally.
- Application fee is Nil for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen; only OBC candidates pay ₹750.
- Total starting emoluments are around ₹46,000 per month at a Metro like Mumbai, on the ₹24,050–64,480 clerical scale with starting basic ₹26,730.

Upper-age relaxation: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD (OBC) 13 years, PwBD (SC/ST) 15 years, Ex-servicemen actual service + 3 years up to age 50, widows/divorced women 7 years, and trained SBI apprentices 4–16 years by category. Cumulative relaxation is not available.
Is there negative marking in SBI Clerk?
Yes, in both the Preliminary and Main Examinations — one fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer. There is no penalty for unattempted questions.
