Punjab Police ASI 2026

Yes. Under the Punjab Government's revised recruitment policy, direct recruitment to the Sub-Inspector (SI) rank has been discontinued. Candidates will now be recruited at the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) level, with a structured internal promotion pathway to SI and higher ranks.

No official date exists yet. The notification is expected on punjabpolice.gov.in. Punjab Police completed the Constable 2026 CBT in July 2026, and the ASI recruitment is widely expected to be the next drive.

Approximately 300 ASI vacancies are expected under the revised recruitment policy, as reported across exam-preparation and news sources. The official vacancy count and category-wise distribution will be confirmed only in the notification.

Based on the previous SI recruitment this drive replaces: a Bachelor's degree in any discipline, age 18–28 years (with Punjab-pattern relaxations for reserved categories, ex-servicemen and serving government employees), and Punjabi passed at Matriculation level. The official conditions come with the notification.

SI (Sub-Inspector) is the rank above ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector). Earlier, graduates could be directly recruited as SIs; under the revised policy that route is closed, and graduates now enter as ASIs and are promoted to SI through a structured internal pathway.

Expected, per the previous SI recruitment: a merit-deciding Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by qualifying Physical Measurement and Screening Tests (PMT/PST), and Document Scrutiny. The official stages and marking scheme will be confirmed in the notification.
