A total of 532 vacancies are on offer — 475 Jail Warder posts (for male candidates) and 57 Matron posts (for female candidates) — with online applications having run from 1 April 2026 to 5 May 2026.

Selection is through an offline objective (MCQ) written examination followed by a Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and finally counselling and document verification. The written exam has two parts: Part-A is a qualifying Punjabi language paper (10th standard level) requiring at least 50%, and Part-B is the merit-deciding paper covering General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Punjab History & Culture, Reasoning, Punjabi, English and ICT.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject at Matriculation level, and be 18–27 years old as on 1 January 2026 (with relaxations for reserved categories). • 532 permanent Punjab Government posts (475 Warder + 57 Matron) with Level-2 pay of ₹19,900–₹63,200
  • Part-A Punjabi paper is only qualifying (50%) — merit rests entirely on Part-B, where focused prep pays off
  • Negative marking of 0.25 in Part-B rewards accuracy over guessing
  • Strong regional weightage — Punjab History, Culture and Punjabi language reward local candidates
  • A previous-year paper (11 January 2026) is available on MockSutra for realistic, free practice
