Solutions

34.(D) It was hoped by Macbeth that he would succeed Duncan.

'Hoped' cannot take a direct object, so the sentence is made passive with the impersonal construction 'It was hoped by ... that ...': 'It was hoped by Macbeth that he would succeed Duncan.' Options (a) and (b) reverse who succeeds whom, and (c) makes Duncan the one who hopes.

35.(A) The light has been put out.

The object 'the light' becomes the subject. The present perfect 'has put out' becomes 'has been put out'. The vague agent 'somebody' is dropped: 'The light has been put out.' Options (c) and (d) remain active and change the tense or mood. Option (b) turns the statement into a request.

36.(C) Was that name never heard ?

In the passive, the object 'that name' becomes the subject. 'Did.. hear' becomes 'was.. heard', and the adverb 'never' stays. So the sentence is 'Was that name never heard (by you)?' Option (a) merely changes the tense and stays active. Option (b) is active with the adverb misplaced. Option (d) has a double negative.

37.(D) Let not the weak be insulted.

A negative imperative becomes passive with 'Let not.. be..'. So 'Do not insult the weak.' → 'Let not the weak be insulted.' Option (a) is still active. Option (b) states a fact instead of giving a command. Option (c) uses a singular continuous verb and changes the sense.

38.(C) By whom were you taught Urdu ?

In the passive, a question starting with 'Who' becomes 'By whom'. The indirect object 'you' becomes the subject. So 'Who taught you Urdu?' → 'By whom were you taught Urdu?' The other options change the tense, from past to present continuous or future. They also drop the question about the agent.

39.(B) The wall is being built by the mason.

In the passive, the present continuous 'is building' becomes 'is being built'. The object 'the wall' moves into subject position, and the doer follows 'by'. So the sentence is 'The wall is being built by the mason.' Option (a) is the simple present passive. Option (c) is still active. Option (d) is not a passive construction at all.

Common questions about Voice in PPSC

How many Voice questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 6 Voice questions across 3 papers between 2017–2019. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 6 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Voice questions repeated?

Not in this set — each of these 6 was set once in the years covered. Questions elsewhere in the book do repeat, and carry a badge saying how often.

Where can I get Voice MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 6 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Voice questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 6 of these plus the rest of the English section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Voice

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
