Solutions

772.(B) It is a project to provide support and services to Defence pensioners and veterans

Project NAMAN is an Indian Army project that gives pension, welfare and grievance-redressal support to defence pensioners, veterans and their families. It works through SPARSH-enabled Common Service Centres set up near military stations. The project was launched in 2024.

773.(B) Wheeler Island

Wheeler Island, the DRDO missile-testing site off the Odisha coast, was renamed Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Island in September 2015 in memory of the former President.

774.(A) INS Arighat

INS Arighat is the second Arihant-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), built under the Advanced Technology Vessel project, launched at Visakhapatnam in 2017 and commissioned on 29 August 2024. When this 2022 paper was set it was still under trials and INS Arihant (commissioned 2016) was the only SSBN in service, but Arighat is the only submarine among the options, so it is the answer. It carries K-15/K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missiles, the sea leg of India's nuclear triad. INS Viraat was a conventionally powered aircraft carrier decommissioned in 2017, INS Saryu is an offshore patrol vessel and INS Shivalik a stealth frigate.

775.(B) Indian Missiles

Shaurya, Sagarika and Nirbhay are all Indian missiles made by DRDO. Shaurya is a canister-launched hypersonic surface-to-surface missile. Sagarika (K-15) is a submarine-launched ballistic missile of the K-family. It arms INS Arihant. Nirbhay is a long-range subsonic cruise missile. None of them is a drone, a submarine or an aircraft carrier.

776.(C) Nuclear powered submarine

INS Arighat is India's second Arihant-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), built at the Ship Building Centre, Visakhapatnam. It was launched in 2017 and commissioned into the Indian Navy in August 2024. INS Arihant is the first submarine of the class.

777.(C) Russia

Russia meets all three conditions. It is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. It is a founding member of BRICS. It partners India in the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile joint venture, with NPO Mashinostroyeniya. It also joins the Su-30MKI fighter programme, built under licence by HAL. China is a P5 and BRICS member, but has no such defence work with India. The USA is in the P5 but not BRICS. Israel is in neither.

778.(D) Nirbhay

Nirbhay is India's long-range subsonic cruise missile, made by DRDO. A cruise missile flies low like an aircraft for its whole journey. Agni, Prithvi and Pralay are ballistic missiles — they rise high and then fall on the target.

779.(D) United States

The MH-60R 'Seahawk' is a multi-role maritime helicopter built by Lockheed Martin (Sikorsky) of the United States of America, used for anti-submarine and anti-surface operations. India concluded a deal with the United States for 24 MH-60Rs in 2020; the first helicopters were handed over to the Indian Navy in July 2021 and they were commissioned as INAS 334 at Kochi in March 2024.

780.(D) All of the above

The Mobile Autonomous Launcher is the road-mobile, land-based launcher of the BrahMos cruise missile system. Each launcher carries three missiles in ready-to-launch canisters and has its own radar receivers for target data and an advanced fire-control system, so it can fire on its own. All three descriptions are therefore true.

781.(C) Both I and II

The Rafale, a twin-engine fighter made by Dassault Aviation of France, joined the Indian Air Force in 2020. Its Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile can hit enemy aircraft more than 100 km away, and its SCALP cruise missile strikes ground targets with precision. Both statements are correct.

Common questions about Defence Technology in PPSC

How many Defence Technology questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 28 Defence Technology questions across 33 papers between 2015–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 10 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Defence Technology questions repeated?

Yes. 2 of these 28 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.

Where can I get Defence Technology MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 28 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Defence Technology questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 28 of these plus the rest of the General Knowledge section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Defence Technology

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
