2053.(B) Both A and R are correct but R does not explain A

Crop rotation controls pests because changing the crop breaks the life cycle of pests and diseases that live on one crop. It also improves soil fertility, especially when pulses that fix nitrogen are grown in turn, but that is a separate benefit and not the reason pests are controlled, so R does not explain A.

2054.(B) I, II and III only

HortiNet is APEDA's internet-based traceability system for export of grapes, pomegranate and vegetables: farm registration, testing and certification are all recorded online, and its mobile app captures the geo-location of each farm. So statements I, II and III are correct. Statement IV is wrong: farms are registered and approved by the State Horticulture Department, and sampling is done by APEDA-recognised laboratories whose reports go into the system, not by private lab agencies.

2055.(C) Biological control of soil-borne plant pathogens

Trichoderma harzianum is a soil fungus used as a biocontrol agent. It parasitises and out-competes soil-borne plant pathogens such as Fusarium, Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Sclerotium. It is sold as a bio-fungicide for seed and soil treatment. It is not used for wasteland reclamation, bioremediation of contaminated soil or gene transfer. Gene transfer is the role of Agrobacterium tumefaciens.

2056.(B) Endosulfan

Endosulfan is the banned insecticide. It is a persistent organochlorine that accumulates in the food chain. It was linked to severe health damage in Kerala's cashew-growing belt. The Supreme Court ordered a nationwide halt to its production and sale in May 2011. Punjab prohibited its use in agriculture. The other three names are not registered insecticides at all.

Can I practice these Pests Revolutions & Schemes questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Which papers asked Pests Revolutions & Schemes

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
