All 10 Sports questions the Punjab PSC asked between 2016 and 2026, each with a worked answer and the exam it came from. First 10 free to read.
Free to read, with the worked answer and the exam each one came from. The book prints this topic in the order the Commission favours, so these are the ones to know first.
How many of the statements given above is/are correct ?
Jiu-jitsu (jujutsu) is a Japanese martial art developed by the samurai for close combat, using an opponent's force, throws and joint locks rather than weapons. Judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu both grew out of it.
Statements 2 and 3 are correct. The Grandmaster title is earned through rating and norms and, once awarded, is held for life. Gukesh Dommaraju became the youngest World Chess Champion at 18 by beating Ding Liren in the 2024 FIDE World Championship. Statement 1 is wrong: winning the World Championship does not by itself confer the Grandmaster title.
Karnam Malleswari is a weightlifter, not a javelin thrower. She won bronze in the women's 69 kg event at Sydney 2000. She was the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. The other pairs are right. Manu Bhaker competes in 10 m air pistol. Bajrang Punia wrestles in 65 kg freestyle. Mirabai Chanu won silver in 49 kg weightlifting at Tokyo 2020.
Lovlina Borgohain is a boxer from Assam. She won the bronze medal in the women's 69 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021) and the gold in the 75 kg category at the 2023 World Boxing Championships.
Mithali Raj is the first Indian woman cricketer to complete 10,000 international runs across all formats, reaching the mark in 2021. She captained India in Tests and ODIs and retired in 2022 as the leading run-scorer in women's international cricket.
The Ryder Cup is a biennial men's golf competition played between teams representing Europe and the United States, named after the English businessman Samuel Ryder who donated the trophy in 1927. Other trophies to remember: Davis Cup (tennis), Thomas and Uber Cups (badminton), Ranji Trophy (cricket) and Santosh Trophy (football).
Smriti Mandhana is the first Indian woman cricketer to score a century in Australia, making 102 in an ODI at Hobart in 2016. In 2021 she also scored 127 at Carrara, the first Test century by an Indian woman in Australia.
Vinesh Phogat is a wrestler, Hima Das a sprinter, P V Sindhu a badminton player and Rohan Bopanna a tennis doubles specialist, so the list matches straight down: A-(i), B-(ii), C-(iii), D-(iv).
Vinesh Phogat is a wrestler from Haryana; she won the 50 kg freestyle gold at the 2018 Asian Games. Rahi Sarnobat is a shooter, Rohan Bopanna is a tennis player and Tajinderpal Singh Toor is a shot-putter.
In 2001 Milkha Singh, the 'Flying Sikh', declined the Arjuna Award. He said it had come too late, as he had received the Padma Shri in 1959. He said giving it to him alongside much younger athletes devalued the award. Pargat Singh and Ajitpal Singh are hockey players who did receive the Arjuna Award. Jeev Milkha Singh, Milkha's son, is a golfer.
The Commission set 10 Sports questions across 12 papers between 2016–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 10 most-asked are on this page free.
Not in this set — each of these 10 was set once in the years covered. Questions elsewhere in the book do repeat, and carry a badge saying how often.
Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 10 are in the book, in the same form.
Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.
The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 10 of these plus the rest of the General Knowledge section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.
The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
