All 7 Interest, Partnership & Statistics questions the Punjab PSC asked between 2016 and 2026, each with a worked answer and the exam it came from. First 10 free to read.
1 of these 7 were set in more than one exam — the Commission reuses this topic, which is the argument for working through it rather than skimming it.
Free to read, with the worked answer and the exam each one came from. The book prints this topic in the order the Commission favours, so these are the ones to know first.
Mean, median and mode are the three measures of central tendency, each describing a typical or central value of a data set. Range, variance and standard deviation are measures of dispersion, which describe how widely the data are spread.
CI for 2 years = P[(1.05)2 - 1] = P(0.1025) = 205, so P = 2000. SI for 2 years = 2000 x 5% x 2 = Rs 200. Shortcut: for 2 years, CI - SI = P(r/100)2 and CI/SI = (2 + r/100)/2 = 2.05/2, giving SI = 205 x 2/2.05 = 200.
Multiply by the LCM 15 to turn the fractional ratio into whole numbers. > 1/3 : 1/5 = 5 : 3, total 8 parts > 1 part = 960 / 8 = 120 > Difference = (5 − 3) × 120 = 240 So A gets ₹600 and B gets ₹360. The difference is ₹240.
Profit = investment × time, so investment = profit ÷ time. > A : B : C = 4/3 : 3/2 : 14/7 > Multiply each by 6: 8 : 9 : 12 The investments are in the ratio 8 : 9 : 12.
Let Rs. x be lent at 5.5% and the rest, Rs. (2500 − x), at 4.5%. > 0.055x + 0.045(2500 − x) = 127.5 > 0.01x + 112.5 = 127.5 → x = 1500 Check: 1500 at 5.5% = 82.5 and 1000 at 4.5% = 45, total Rs. 127.5. He lent Rs. 1500 at 5.5%.
Apply simple interest to each part and total the amounts at the end of the second year. > After the first year: 1.06x > Half (0.53x) in an FD at 5% → 0.53x × 1.05 = 0.5565x > Of the other 0.53x, half is spent; the remaining 0.265x earns 3% → 0.265x × 1.03 = 0.27295x > Total = 0.5565x + 0.27295x = 0.82945x = 99,534 → x = 1,20,000 Every part earns simple interest for one year only, so the total is a plain multiple of x.
Profit is shared in the ratio of capital × time. Ninad invests x for 12 months, Vikas 2x for 6 months and Manav 3x for 4 months. > Ninad : Vikas : Manav = 12x : 12x : 12x = 1 : 1 : 1 > Manav's share = 45,000 ÷ 3 = Rs. 15,000 All three capital-months are equal, so the profit splits equally.
The Commission set 7 Interest, Partnership & Statistics questions across 10 papers between 2016–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 7 most-asked are on this page free.
Yes. 1 of these 7 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.
Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 7 are in the book, in the same form.
Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.
The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 7 of these plus the rest of the Reasoning & Aptitude section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.
The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
