Solutions

10 answers · same numbers
1329.(D) 72%

The session that ends in November 2018 is Oct–Nov 2018, where the graph shows 360 toys sold against a target of 500. > 360 ÷ 500 × 100 = 72%

1330.(A) 349

Read the six points off the line graph and average them. > total = 320 + 380 + 310 + 360 + 300 + 425 = 2095 > average = 2095 ÷ 6 = 349.17 ≈ 349 The salesman sold about 349 toys a session. That is well short of the 500 target.

1331.(D) Rs. 420 cr

The graph gives only the ratio imports ÷ exports: 1.25 in 1998 and 1.40 in 1999. Find each year's exports first. > exports 1998 = 250 ÷ 1.25 = Rs 200 cr > exports 1999 = 500 − 200 = Rs 300 cr > imports 1999 = 1.40 × 300 = Rs 420 cr

1332.(D) Data Inadequate

The graph gives only the ratio of imports to exports (0.35 in 1997 and 1.25 in 1998), not the actual value of either. Without the export figures the import amounts of the two years cannot be found, so their percentage increase cannot be computed. So the data are inadequate. A ratio graph lets you compare imports with exports within a year, never imports across years.

1333.(D) 4

Exports exceed imports whenever the imports-to-exports ratio is less than 1. Reading the graph: 1995 (0.65), 1996 (0.85), 1997 (0.35) and 2000 (0.95) are below 1, while 1998 (1.25), 1999 (1.40) and 2001 (1.55) are above it. > years with ratio < 1: 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000 → 4 So 4 years.

1334.(A) 280%

Company B's profit in 2022 is 75%, so income = 1.75 × investment. Let the 2021 investment be 100. > investment 2022 = 100 + 60% = 160 > income 2022 = 160 × 1.75 = 280 > 280 ÷ 100 × 100 = 280%

1335.(D) Data Inadequate

Profit percent fixes only the ratio of profit to investment within each separate year. So income = investment × (1 + profit%/100), year by year. > average income = average of (investment of that year × its own multiplier) > the graph gives no year-wise investment for A, only the overall average of ₹26 lakh The two averages cannot be combined, so the data are inadequate. Applying the mean of the seven percentages to ₹26 lakh works only if A invested the same amount every year.

1336.(B) ₹ 12 lakh

From the graph, company A's profit in 2020 is 55%, and income = investment × (1 + profit%). > investment = 18.6 ÷ 1.55 = 12 So the investment was ₹12 lakh.

1337.(C) 20 : 31

Profit per cent = (income − investment) ÷ investment × 100. So income = investment × (100 + profit%)/100. Company A's profit in 2020 is 55%. > Income of A (2020) = I_A × 1.55 > This equals investment of B (2021): I_B = 1.55 I_A > I_A : I_B = 1 : 1.55 = 100 : 155 = 20 : 31 So the ratio is 20 : 31. Company B's 75% profit in 2021 is not needed. The question asks about B's investment, not its income.

1338.(C) 1.7%

Take 1500 as the strength in 2000 itself, so the 2000 joined/left figures are not applied on top of it. For each later year add the joined and subtract the left to get the net strength. > 2001 = 1500 + 150 − 225 = 1425 > 2002 = 1425 + 225 − 200 = 1450 > change = (1450 − 1425) ÷ 1425 × 100 ≈ 1.75% The strength rose from 2001 to 2002 by about 1.7%.
