Solutions

10 answers · same numbers
1.(B) E

Gandhi House has C, D, E and F. The short ones are C and E, since D and F are tall. Of these, C wears glasses and E does not. ```puzzle:grid cols: A, B, C, D, E, F row: Nehru, Nehru, Gandhi, Gandhi, Gandhi, Gandhi row: short, short, short, tall, short, tall row: glasses, no glasses, glasses, glasses, no glasses, no glasses ``` The short Gandhi House student without glasses is E.

2.(C) B and E

A, C and D wear glasses. So B, E and F are the three without them. F is one of the two tall students. That leaves B and E as the short pair without glasses. ```puzzle:grid cols: Student, House, Height, Glasses row: A, Nehru, short, yes row: B, Nehru, short, no row: C, Gandhi, short, yes row: D, Gandhi, tall, yes row: E, Gandhi, short, no row: F, Gandhi, tall, no ``` So (c). Option (b) fails because C wears glasses, and (d) because F is tall.

3.(C) O

Q coordinates Operations. Operations is only a support course for N and P. So P, who also has Marketing, must coordinate Marketing. L's two subjects are Finance and IT, and O has the same two. O supports Finance, so O coordinates IT. Three professors coordinate Finance. Only L, M and N are left for that. So IT is L's support course. That leaves Strategy as M's support course - the single professor supporting Strategy. ```puzzle:grid cols: Professor, Coordinates, Supports row: L, Finance, IT row: M, Finance, Strategy row: N, Finance, Operations row: O, IT, Finance row: P, Marketing, Operations row: Q, Operations, Marketing ``` O coordinates the IT course.

4.(C) Strategy

Q coordinates Operations and has Marketing as the other subject, so Q supports Marketing. Operations is the support course of N and P. P also has Marketing, so P coordinates Marketing. O supports Finance. L has Finance and IT, the same pair as O. So O coordinates IT, and L coordinates Finance with IT as support. Finance is coordinated by three professors other than O, that is L, M and N. N's support is Operations. That leaves M's support course. Strategy is a support course for exactly one professor, and it is the only course left for M. ```puzzle:grid cols: L, M, N, O, P, Q row: Finance, Finance, Finance, IT, Marketing, Operations row: IT, Strategy, Operations, Finance, Operations, Marketing ``` So M supports Strategy.

5.(C) L, M and N

Q coordinates Operations, so Q's Marketing subject is a support course. P has Marketing and Operations, and Operations supports both N and P, so P coordinates Marketing. L's subjects are Finance and IT. O has the same pair with Finance as support, so O coordinates IT. Finance is coordinated by three professors other than O. P, Q and O are already taken, so L, M and N coordinate Finance. L supports IT, N supports Operations, and M takes Strategy, the lone Strategy support. ```puzzle:grid cols: L, M, N, O, P, Q row: Finance, Finance, Finance, IT, Marketing, Operations row: IT, Strategy, Operations, Finance, Operations, Marketing ``` So L, M and N coordinate Finance.

6.(B) Marketing

L and O share the same two subjects, Finance and IT. O supports Finance, so O coordinates IT and L coordinates Finance. Q coordinates Operations and also has Marketing, so Q supports Marketing. P is the other professor with Marketing, so P coordinates Marketing and supports Operations along with N. Besides O, three professors hold Finance as coordinators, so M and N join L there. The only support slot left for M is Strategy. That matches the clue that Strategy supports just one professor. ```puzzle:grid cols: Finance, Marketing, Operations, IT, Strategy row: coord L/M/N, coord P, coord Q, coord O, coord — row: support O, support Q, support N/P, support L, support M ``` Marketing has exactly one coordinator (P) and one supporting professor (Q). Finance has three coordinators, Operations two supporters and Strategy no coordinator at all. IT is also one-and-one, but it does not appear among the options.

7.(C) R

B, the engineer, is not on an upper berth, and only the architect shares his berth type, so the two of them hold the two lower berths. M (pathologist) and H (lawyer) keep off the middle, so they take the two upper berths, leaving T, K and D in the middle. D is neither journalist nor architect, so D is the doctor, and K, who shares the doctor's berth type, is the journalist. The lower-berth architect can only be R; the data are sufficient, so (d) is wrong. ```puzzle:stack stack: M (Pathologist) and H (Lawyer), T (Pharmacist) and K (Journalist) and D (Doctor), B (Engineer) and R (Architect) ```

8.(C) Doctor

Only the architect shares B's berth type, so B and the architect hold the two lower berths. M and H stay off the middle, so they take the two upper berths, leaving T, K and D in the middle. D is neither journalist nor architect, so D is the doctor; K shares his berth type and is the journalist, and R is the lower-berth architect. ```puzzle:stack Upper: M, H Middle: T, K, D Lower: B, R ```

9.(D) None of these

B the engineer and the architect are the only two on one berth type, so they hold the two lower berths. M and H stay off the middle, so they are on the upper berths. Of T, K and D in the middle, D is the doctor and K the journalist, so the architect beside B is R. The lower berths are held by B and R, a pair not offered in (a), (b) or (c). ```puzzle:grid cols: Berth, Occupants row: Upper, M (pathologist) and H (lawyer) row: Middle, T (pharmacist), K (journalist), D (doctor) row: Lower, B (engineer) and R (architect) ```

10.(A) DKT

B, the Engineer, is not on the upper berth. Exactly one other person, the Architect, shares B's type of berth. The middle has three berths, so B must be on a lower berth. M (Pathologist) and H (Lawyer) are not on the middle berth and are not Architects. So they take the two upper berths. That leaves T (Pharmacist) and two of R, K, D in the middle. The remaining professions — Architect, Doctor and Journalist — go to R, K and D. D is neither Journalist nor Architect, so D is the Doctor. K shares the berth type of the Doctor, so K and D are both in the middle. K is the Journalist. R is the Architect on the lower berth beside B. ```puzzle:grid cols: Upper, Middle, Lower row: M (Pathologist), T (Pharmacist), B (Engineer) row: H (Lawyer), K (Journalist), R (Architect) row: —, D (Doctor), — ``` The middle berths are occupied by D, K and T.

Common questions about Puzzles & Seating in PPSC

How many Puzzles & Seating questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 176 Puzzles & Seating questions across 57 papers between 2018–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 10 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Puzzles & Seating questions repeated?

Yes. 36 of these 176 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.

Where can I get Puzzles & Seating MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 176 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Puzzles & Seating questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 176 of these plus the rest of the Reasoning & Aptitude section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Puzzles & Seating

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
