Solutions

10 answers · same numbers
350.(A) A, B

Take C = 2 units and work outwards. D = 2C = 4, E = 2D = 8, B = 4.5 × C = 9 and A = 2B = 18. This fits the last clue that E lies between C and A. > A = 18, B = 9, E = 8, D = 4, C = 2 Only A and B are heavier than E. So E is lighter than A and B.

351.(A) A

Take C = 2 units and build the others from the ratios. > B = 4.5 × C = 9; A = 2 × B = 18 > D = 2 × C = 4; E = 2 × D = 8 > order: A (18) > B (9) > E (8) > D (4) > C (2) E is lighter than A and heavier than C, so the data are consistent. A is the heaviest.

352.(A) A, B, E, D, C

Take C as 1 unit. Then D = 2, E = 4, B = 4.5 and A = 9. Condition (v) checks out, because E (4) lies between C and A. > A (9) > B (4.5) > E (4) > D (2) > C (1) ```puzzle:stack stack: A, B, E, D, C ``` So the descending order of weights is A, B, E, D, C.

353.(D) Statement 5

Take ring F as 1 unit and convert every statement into units of F. > Statement 3: G = 2F = 2 > Statement 4: H = 2G = 4 > Statement 2: E = 4 1/2 × F = 4.5 > Statement 1: D = 2E = 9 > D (9) > E (4.5) > H (4) > G (2) > F (1) Statements 1 to 4 alone chain every ring to F and fix the whole order. Statement 5 only repeats that H lies between D and F, so Statement 5 is not necessary.

354.(C) Ring F

Take ring F as 1 unit and build the others from the statements. > G = 2F = 2, H = 2G = 4 > E = 4 1/2 × F = 4.5, D = 2E = 9 > D (9) > E (4.5) > H (4) > G (2) > F (1) Statement 5 checks out, since H lies between D and F. Ring F is the lightest.

355.(D) D

Take ring F as 1 unit. Then G = 2F = 2, H = 2G = 4, E = 4 1/2 × F = 4.5 and D = 2E = 9. Statement 5 checks out, because H (4) is lighter than D (9) but heavier than F (1). > D (9) > E (4.5) > H (4) > G (2) > F (1) If the rings are priced by weight, the heaviest ring, D, fetches the most.

356.(B) GF

Take ring F as 1 unit: G = 2F = 2, H = 2G = 4, E = 4 1/2 × F = 4.5 and D = 2E = 9. > D (9) > E (4.5) > H (4) > G (2) > F (1) H stands third, so it is heavier than exactly the two rings below it, G and F. D and E are both heavier than H.

357.(C) 47

A is 18th from the front and C, 25th from the front, is midway between A and B, so B is 25 + 7 = 32nd from the front. B is also 16th from the back, so the queue has 32 + 16 − 1 = 47 persons. > B from front = 25 + (25 − 18) = 32 > total = 32 + 16 − 1 = 47.

358.(A) 9th

A is 15th from the left and B is 4th from the right, with three boys between them. If B lies to the right of A, the row has 15 + 3 + 4 = 22 boys. C is just left of A, so C is 14th from the left. That makes C 22 − 14 + 1 = 9th from the right. If B were to the left of A, the row would have only 14 boys. Then C would be last from the right, which matches no option. > total = 15 + 3 + 4 = 22 > C from right = 22 − 14 + 1 = 9.

359.(C) Fifth

If F stands second then F is not the highest scorer, so C is; and whenever C is the highest, E scores the least. > C 1st, F 2nd, E 6th > D > A > B fills the 3rd, 4th and 5th places So D is third, A fourth and B fifth.

Common questions about Ranking & Ordering in PPSC

How many Ranking & Ordering questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 68 Ranking & Ordering questions across 47 papers between 2015–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 10 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Ranking & Ordering questions repeated?

Yes. 17 of these 68 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.

Where can I get Ranking & Ordering MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 68 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Ranking & Ordering questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 68 of these plus the rest of the Reasoning & Aptitude section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Ranking & Ordering

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
