Magnetic media store bits as the direction of magnetisation on a coated surface (hard disk, floppy disk, magnetic tape) and optical media store them as pits burned into a reflective layer read by a laser (CD, DVD, Blu-ray). Every one of those devices is secondary storage — non-volatile, external to the CPU, large and comparatively slow. Primary memory (RAM and ROM), cache and registers are all semiconductor memory built from transistors and flip-flops on silicon; nothing in them is magnetised or read by a laser, and registers and cache sit inside or right beside the processor. Answer: option 3.
