Strategy
How to prepare
- 1Prelims is a speed test with sectional 20-minute timing — practise section-wise mocks under time pressure.
- 2Mains rewards depth: high-level DI, puzzles and Banking/Economy awareness carry the most weight (120 of 200 objective marks).
- 3Build a daily Banking & Financial Awareness habit — RBI policy, budget, schemes and appointments recur every year.
- 4For the Descriptive paper, practise typing emails and essays within the 30-minute window; structure and clarity matter more than length.
- 5There is 1/4 negative marking in both Prelims and Mains — attempt only when reasonably confident.
Answers
Frequently asked questions
Is there negative marking in SBI PO?
Yes. In both the Preliminary and Main objective tests, 1/4 (0.25) of the marks for a question is deducted for a wrong answer. There is no penalty for unattempted questions.
