ਪੂਰਾ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ 'ਨਾਨੀ ਖਸਮ ਕਰੇ, ਦੋਹਤਾ ਚੱਟੀ ਭਰੇ'। 'ਚੱਟੀ ਭਰਨਾ' ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਹਰਜਾਨਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗ਼ਲਤੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਮਿਆਜ਼ਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ (ਬੇਕਸੂਰ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਗਤਣਾ ਪਵੇ। 'ਘਰ', 'ਝੁੱਗਾ' ਜਾਂ 'ਘਾਟਾ' ਭਰਨਾ ਇਸ ਅਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

ਪੂਰਾ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ ‘ਅੱਖ ਅੱਡੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ, ਕੱਜਲ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਲ ਲੈ ਗਈ’। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ-ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ, ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਖੁੱਸ ਜਾਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ। ਇੱਲ ਝਪਟ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਚੁੱਕ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਅਖਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਲ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੈ। ਉੱਤਰ (a)।

ਪੂਰਾ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ 'ਘਿਓ ਡੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਥਾਲ਼, ਨਾ ਮਿਹਣਾ ਨਾ ਗਾਲ਼'। ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਲਾਂਭਾ ਜਾਂ ਗਿਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ 'ਘਿਓ ਡੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਖਿਚੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ'। 'ਥਾਲ਼' ਨਾਲ ਤੁਕਾਂਤ 'ਗਾਲ਼' ਦਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
101.(A) ਖਾਈਏ ਦਾਲ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਨਿਭੇ ਨਾਲ
'ਖਾਈਏ ਦਾਲ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਨਿਭੇ ਨਾਲ' ਅਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੈਸੀਅਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਾਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਭ ਸਕੇ। 'ਚਮੜੀ ਜਾਏ ਦਮੜੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਏ' ਕੰਜੂਸੀ, 'ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਸਵਾਸ ਤਦ ਤੱਕ ਆਸ' ਆਸ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਣ ਅਤੇ 'ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਨਣੀ ਫਿਰ ਅੰਧੇਰੀ ਰਾਤ' ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਅਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਚਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਕ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਉਂ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਂ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਅਖਾਣ ਹਨ, ਮੁਹਾਵਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਪੂਰੀ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ 'ਸਵਾਲ ਕਣਕ, ਜਵਾਬ ਜੌਂ'। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੇ; ਬੇਮੇਲ ਜਾਂ ਅਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਣਕ ਅਤੇ ਜੌਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਿਲਦੀਆਂ-ਜੁਲਦੀਆਂ ਪਰ ਵੱਖਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਬਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਅਖਾਣ "ਤਾਲੋਂ ਘੁੱਥੀ ਡੂਮਣੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਤਾਲ ਬੇਤਾਲ" ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਹੀ ਮੌਕਾ ਖੁੰਝਾ ਕੇ ਬੇਥਵ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ। "ਕਾਹਲੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਣੀ" ਕਾਹਲ ਦੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ "ਕੋਠਾ ਉਸਰਿਆ ਤਖਾਣ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ" ਅਹਿਸਾਨ ਭੁੱਲਣ ਦੀ।

ਪੂਰਾ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ 'ਅੱਖਰ ਇਕ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਨਾਮ ਇਲਮਦੀਨ'। ਇਹ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਲਮ (ਵਿੱਦਿਆ) ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨਪੜ੍ਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਭਾਵ ਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਲ ਨਾ ਖਾਣ।
105.(A) ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮੰਗਣੀ।

ਪੂਰਾ ਅਖਾਣ ਹੈ 'ਉਹ ਰਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਖਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਣੀ'। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਜਾਂ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਵੇ; ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਇ ਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨਹੀਂ। ਰਾਜੇ, ਪਰਜਾ ਜਾਂ ਜੱਗ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਅਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
