Andy Burnham became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 20 July 2026 after being invited by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace to form a government, succeeding Sir Keir Starmer. Formerly the Mayor of Greater Manchester and MP for Makerfield, Burnham had held cabinet posts under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
