Eighth Bloomberg New Economy Forum Convenes in New Delhi, Its First Edition in India

The eighth Bloomberg New Economy Forum was held in New Delhi from 13 to 15 October, the first edition hosted in India, bringing together more than 500 invited leaders under the theme 'A World in Play: Defining the New Levers of Power'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the invitation-only gathering of serving and former heads of state, central bank governors, Fortune 100 chief executives, sovereign investors and technology founders. The forum was founded by Michael Bloomberg in 2018 as an East-West dialogue; its advisory board is co-chaired by former US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

Marco Rubio Says India-US Trade Deal Is Nearly Done After Mumbai Talks with Jaishankar

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Mumbai on 20 October 2026 and said the two sides were 'about as close as you can be without having executed the agreement' on a bilateral trade deal, with only a few items left to settle. India to Host the First SCO Civilisational Dialogue Forum by End-2026, Rajnath Singh Announces at Dushanbe

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced at the 25th SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 20 October 2026 that India will host the first SCO Civilisational Dialogue Forum by the end of 2026. The forum, proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2025 SCO Summit in Tianjin, will deepen people-to-people ties and showcase the shared heritage, art and literature of ancient civilisations. The Dushanbe meeting adopted a joint communique approving the SCO budget for 2027 and the PMTEC Action Plan for 2026-2030. Singh also highlighted Mission LiFE and the Global Biofuel Alliance.

India and Canada Sign 34 Commercial Agreements Worth Nearly CAD 300 Million; CEPA Targeted for December 2026

34 commercial agreements and MoUs worth nearly CAD 300 million (about Rs 1,800 crore) were signed at the Canada-India Business Ceremony during the Team Canada Trade Mission, led by Canada's International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu. Nearly 300 Canadian delegates visited Mumbai and Bengaluru in Canada's largest trade mission to India in 30 years, spanning aerospace, clean energy, ICT, life sciences, agri-food and AI.
