Colombo Security Conclave Concludes a Three-Day Maritime Table Top Exercise at Visakhapatnam
The Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) concluded a three-day Table Top Exercise at the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam, on 12 September 2026; it had begun on 9 September. Delegations and maritime-security experts from CSC member states and observer nations worked through simulated scenarios for over 72 hours on a coordinated response to illicit maritime activity in the Indian Ocean Region - maritime terrorism, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Participants also reviewed information-sharing arrangements and standard operating procedures for Maritime Domain Awareness, a core CSC pillar alongside counter-terrorism, transnational crime and disaster relief.
The Colombo Security Conclave began in 2011 as a trilateral NSA-level maritime security dialogue of India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with its Secretariat at Colombo | Mauritius and Bangladesh are also members of the grouping | The Indian Navy has three commands - Western (Mumbai), Eastern (Visakhapatnam) and Southern (Kochi)
