MoD Approves Transfer of All DRDO Conventional Missile Technologies to Indian Industry

On 25 August 2026, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the transfer of technology (ToT) of all conventional missile systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to Indian defence manufacturers, a major push for Aatmanirbharta in defence production. Eligible Indian firms — including MSMEs — can now manufacture these systems subject to required qualifications, certifications and regulatory approvals, with DRDO supporting technology absorption and production. It widens an earlier August 2026 step in which DRDO invited expressions of interest from private players for missile production, moving from selective licensing to blanket access across the whole conventional missile portfolio.
