Gaganyaan achieves major human-rating milestones

India''s first human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan, completed major development and validation milestones for its human-rating systems, announced by the Union Minister of State for Science & Technology on 6 August 2026. Human-rating certifies launch vehicles and spacecraft as safe to carry humans; the programme has included uncrewed test flights and Crew Escape System trials, aiming to send Indian gaganyatris to low-Earth orbit aboard the human-rated LVM3 (HLVM3).
