Hindustan Shipyard Delivers Second Diving Support Vessel Nipun to Indian Navy

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam delivered 'Nipun', the second indigenously built Diving Support Vessel (DSV), to the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on 31 July 2026. The vessel supports deep-sea diving, underwater inspection, salvage operations and submarine-rescue missions, enhancing the Navy's underwater maintenance and emergency-response capability. HSL is a defence CPSE under the Ministry of Defence, HQ Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and is the only Indian shipyard with submarine-building experience. The first DSV was INS Nireekshak. The delivery advances Atmanirbhar Bharat in naval shipbuilding.
