India and China Reach Eight-Point Consensus at 25th Special Representatives Talks in Beijing

India and China held the 25th round of Special Representatives (SR) talks on the boundary question in Beijing on 25 August 2026, releasing an eight-point consensus a day later. NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi led the two sides. They agreed to advance a framework settlement guided by the 2005 Agreement on Political Parameters and Guiding Principles, finalise terms of reference for the Expert Group on Boundary Delimitation and the Working Group on Border Management under the WMCC, add two military hotlines in the Eastern and Middle Sectors, and reopen three border trading points. India hosts the 26th round in 2027.
