India hosts 12th BRICS Environment Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi

India hosted the BRICS Environment Working Group's Senior Officers' Meeting and the Contact Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development on 17 August 2026, followed by the 12th BRICS Environment Ministers' Meeting on 18 August 2026, both at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Held under India's BRICS Chairship 2026 theme — "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability" — the meetings focused on sustainable lifestyles, afforestation and forest-fire management, disaster resilience, circular economy and climate adaptation, and were set to produce a joint environmental outcome document. India's Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav led the deliberations.
