India Signs Letter of Offer and Acceptance to Procure FGM-148 Javelin Anti-Tank Missiles from the US

India signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance on 28 August 2026 to procure the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank guided missile from the United States under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route, formally making India a Javelin customer. The Javelin is a man-portable, fire-and-forget, medium-range ATGM used against armour and fortified positions. Reports place the contract near USD 45.7 million for 100 missiles and launch units, inside a wider USD 93 million package covering 216 Excalibur guided artillery shells. Washington cleared the sale in November 2025; Bharat Dynamics Limited had signed a co-production pact with the Javelin Joint Venture (RTX–Lockheed Martin) in February 2025.
