Two Hammer Throw National Records Fall on the Same Day at the Indian Athletics Final Series
Two national records in the hammer throw fell on the same day at the Indian Athletics Final Series in New Delhi on 10 September 2026. Tanya Chaudhary, a 22-year-old athlete from Uttar Pradesh, set a new women's national record with a throw of 68.35 metres. On the same day, Nirbhay Choudhary of Delhi broke the men's national record with a throw of 71.02 metres. The double rewrite comes as India's athletics calendar builds towards the 2026 Asian Games, for which a 503-member Indian contingent was given a send-off in New Delhi earlier in September, and ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
