Maharashtra Becomes First State to Qualify for Second RKVY Installment

Maharashtra became the first state in India to qualify for the release of the second installment under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), after crossing the prescribed fund-utilisation benchmark. The decision came at a virtual review chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare). Maharashtra utilised nearly Rs 260 crore of the Rs 335 crore first installment — more than the 75% utilisation benchmark — making it eligible for a second installment of another Rs 335 crore. RKVY, launched in 2007-08, is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with a 60:40 (Centre:State) funding ratio (90:10 for North-Eastern and Himalayan states, 100% central for UTs), giving states flexibility to plan agriculture and allied-sector development.

Navi Mumbai International Airport Begins International Operations

On 15 July 2026, Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) commenced scheduled international operations.
