Mastercard Exits Pine Labs Entirely, Selling Its 4.31% Stake for Rs 933.57 Crore in BSE Block Deals
Mastercard sold its whole 4.31% holding in Pine Labs for about Rs 933.57 crore through BSE block deals — a secondary sale, so Pine Labs itself raised nothing. Mastercard Asia/Pacific offloaded 4.97 crore shares across 13 tranches at an average Rs 187.75 a share. Buyers included ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Franklin Templeton, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Because the deal was a secondary sale, ownership simply moved between investors and no fresh shares were issued, so the company received none of the proceeds. Pine Labs, founded in 1998 and headquartered at Noida, is led by CEO and MD B. Amrish Rau.
