MoRD Launches Mission Samriddh Gaon for Poverty-Free, Employment-Rich Villages
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Mission Samriddh Gaon at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi in August 2026, a Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) programme to build a replicable model for poverty-free, employment-rich villages with assured access to basic amenities. It targets elimination of rural poverty, livelihoods for every family and reduced distress migration, in line with the Viksit Bharat vision. It will be piloted in Budni block (Sehore district) and Khategaon block (Dewas district) of Madhya Pradesh before nationwide replication. An integrated development framework will be prepared at family, gram panchayat and block levels, converging agriculture, employment, health, education and rural infrastructure schemes.
