Nepal confers honorary rank of General on Indian Army Chief Dhiraj Seth

Nepal President Ramchandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army on Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, Kathmandu, on 17 August 2026. General Seth, on an official visit to Nepal, also met Nepali Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel to discuss bilateral defence cooperation. The gesture continues a reciprocal military tradition dating back to 1950, under which the army chiefs of India and Nepal are conferred each other's highest honorary rank.
