Second Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel Shruti Launched at GRSE
The Indian Navy's second Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), named Shruti and designated Yard 3037, was launched on 11 August 2026 at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, by Mrs Manika Sadhu in the presence of Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition. The name Shruti references the four Vedas. The vessel is about 113 metres long, 14.6 m wide, with a displacement of about 3,000 tonnes, a top speed of 23 knots and an endurance of 8,500 nautical miles at 14 knots. GRSE is building 4 NGOPVs, with work shared with Goa Shipyard Limited; the first, Sanghmitra, was launched on 20 May.
