PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana Completes One Year; Three Gujarat Districts Win Excellence Awards
The Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) completed its first year on 11 October 2026, and three Gujarat districts - Kutch, Dahod and Chhota Udepur - received national excellence awards for implementation. Announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, approved by the Union Cabinet on 16 July 2025 and launched on 11 October 2025 for six years from FY26, the scheme targets 100 lagging "Aspirational Agricultural Districts" with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore. It runs a data-driven, convergence-based model that pools existing central and state schemes to lift productivity, crop diversification, post-harvest storage, irrigation and credit access.
PMDDKY is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare | It draws on the template of the Aspirational Districts Programme launched by NITI Aayog in 2018 | Districts are picked on three criteria - low productivity, low cropping intensity and below-average credit disbursement
