Suryapath Tiranga: India's Global Tricolour Relay Spans 54 Countries

India's Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Culture organised "Suryapath Tiranga," a coordinated flag-hoisting relay that moved from east to west following the path of the rising sun, across 54 Indian diplomatic missions in 54 countries, to mark the 80th Independence Day. The 19-hour relay began at 1:30 AM IST in Suva, Fiji and concluded around 8:30 PM IST at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, passing through New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Singapore, the Maldives, Pretoria, Riga, Reykjavik and London along the way. It was organised under the "Har Ghar Tiranga 2026" campaign (9-17 August 2026).

India opened the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum at the Parliament House Complex, New Delhi, on 26 October 2026, under the theme 'Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development'. Ukraine Becomes First Non-NATO Country to Join the NSPA's Security Cooperation Support Partnership

Ukraine on 22 October 2026 formally joined the NATO Support and Procurement Agency's Security Cooperation Support Partnership (SCSP), becoming the first and only non-NATO country with such an arrangement. The partnership gives Ukrainian defence firms access to NATO contracts and NSPA tenders and lets Kyiv procure equipment through the agency, without conferring NATO membership. Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhen Khmara signed the agreement on 14 October 2026, the day the NSPA's Ukraine Industry Day in Kyiv drew about 150 Ukrainian firms. Around 400 million euros has been mobilised through NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package Trust Fund, with a further 219 million euros from the IT Capability Coalition.

Cape Town Hosts the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference with Harivansh Leading India

The 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, South Africa, presided over by Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, Chairperson of South Africa's National Council of Provinces. World Bank Group Launches Its First Digital Strategy at the Global AI and Digital Summit in Seoul

The World Bank Group launched its first-ever Digital Strategy at the inaugural Global Artificial Intelligence and Digital Summit 2026 in Seoul, South Korea. The strategy aims to benefit 1 billion people by 2030 through four priorities: connectivity, lower access costs, digital services and skills, and AI readiness. It notes that over 2 billion people were offline in 2025, with internet use at 23% in low-income countries against 94% in high-income countries, and that about 1.2 billion young people in developing countries will reach working age over 10-15 years against roughly 420 million jobs.
