World Day for International Justice is observed annually on 17 July to recognise the international criminal justice system. The date marks the adoption of the Rome Statute on 17 July 1998, which established the International Criminal Court (ICC) — the first permanent global tribunal for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. The ICC is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. July 17 is also observed globally as World Emoji Day, founded in 2014 by Jeremy Burge of Emojipedia.
