World Hepatitis Day (WHD) is observed every year on 28 July to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and accelerate efforts to eliminate it as a public-health threat by 2030. The 2026 theme is 'Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down.' The date marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Baruch Samuel Blumberg, the Nobel laureate who discovered the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) in 1967. The World Health Organization (WHO) officially designated 28 July as WHD in 2010 (Resolution WHA63.18), with the first WHO-recognised observance held in 2011. Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver, caused mainly by hepatitis viruses A, B, C, D and E.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Foundation Day (also called Raising Day) is observed on 27 July, with 2026 marking its 88th anniversary.
