World Population Day (11 July) was observed with the 2026 theme "Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people"; established 1989 by the UNDP Governing Council. International Malala Day (12 July) marks the birth anniversary of Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate. The International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms (12 July) was observed; the UN declared 2025–2034 the UN Decade on Combating SDS. World Horse Day (11 July) saw its 2nd observance.
