Solutions

1672.(D) A-iv, B-iii, C-ii, D-i

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan led the Aligarh Movement. He founded the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh in 1875. Baba Dayal Das (Dayal Singh) started the Nirankari movement in Punjab, at Rawalpindi. Bhagat Jawahar Mal and Baba Balak Singh founded the Kuka (Namdhari) movement, and Baba Ram Singh later led it. Atmaram Pandurang founded the Prarthana Samaj in Bombay in 1867.

1673.(B) 1 and 3 only

Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Atmiya Sabha in 1815 at Calcutta, not at Madras in 1824, so statement 2 is wrong. It was a small philosophical discussion circle where debates on religious and social questions were held, and it prepared the ground for the Brahmo Samaj he founded in 1828. Statements 1 and 3 are correct.

1674.(B) Swami Dayanand Saraswati

Satyarth Prakash (The Light of Truth, 1875) was written by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He founded the Arya Samaj. The book sets out his call to return to the Vedas. Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Brahmo Samaj. Shraddha Ram Phillauri wrote the Punjabi novel Sikhan de Raj di Vithia and the aarti Om Jai Jagdish Hare.

1675.(C) Dayanand Saraswati established the Prarthna Samaj.

Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj (Bombay, 1875), not the Prarthana Samaj, so statement (c) is wrong. The Prarthana Samaj was started in Bombay in 1867 by Atmaram Pandurang, with M.G. Ranade as its leading figure. Vivekananda did speak at the 1893 Chicago Parliament of Religions, and Jyotiba Phule did found the Satyashodhak Samaj (1873).

1676.(A) 1 and 2

Raja Ram Mohan Roy championed English and Western scientific education (supporting David Hare's Hindu College, founded 1817) and fought the press regulations of 1823, so statements 1 and 2 are correct. Statement 4 is wrong, since he is widely called a 'prophet of humanity', and statement 3 overstates his role.

1677.(D) All are false

All three statements are wrong. The Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh was founded in 1875, not 1860. Syed Ahmad Khan's aim was to give Muslims a modern Western education, not to demand a separate nation. He did not denounce modern science. He championed it through the Scientific Society (1864) and the Aligarh movement.

1678.(D) Madam Blavatsky and Olcott

The Theosophical Society was founded in New York in 1875 by Madame H.P. Blavatsky and Colonel H.S. Olcott; its headquarters shifted to Adyar, Madras, in 1882. Annie Besant joined later and became its president in 1907, and A.O. Hume is associated with founding the Indian National Congress.

1679.(B) Swami Vivekanand

Swami Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897 at Belur near Kolkata in memory of his guru Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj and Annie Besant led the Theosophical Society.

1680.(D) Swami Vivekanand

Swami Vivekananda said this in his opening address to the Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893: 'We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true.' He held that the world's religions are so many paths to one truth, to be embraced rather than merely tolerated.

1681.(A) Raja Rammohun Roy

Raja Rammohun Roy, founder of the Brahmo Samaj, campaigned against sati, and his efforts led Governor-General Lord William Bentinck to abolish it by Regulation XVII of 1829. Vidyasagar is associated with widow remarriage (Act of 1856), Keshab Chandra Sen with the Brahmo Samaj of India and Dayanand Saraswati with the Arya Samaj.

Common questions about Socio-Religious Reforms in PPSC

How many Socio-Religious Reforms questions come in PPSC exams?

The Commission set 13 Socio-Religious Reforms questions across 19 papers between 2015–2024. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 10 most-asked are on this page free.

Are PPSC Socio-Religious Reforms questions repeated?

Not in this set — each of these 13 was set once in the years covered. Questions elsewhere in the book do repeat, and carry a badge saying how often.

Where can I get Socio-Religious Reforms MCQs with answers and solutions?

Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 13 are in the book, in the same form.

Can I practice these Socio-Religious Reforms questions online?

Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.

Is a PDF available?

The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 13 of these plus the rest of the General Knowledge section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.

Which papers asked Socio-Religious Reforms

The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
