All 5 Administration questions the Punjab PSC asked between 2016 and 2026, each with a worked answer and the exam it came from. First 10 free to read.
1 of these 5 were set in more than one exam — the Commission reuses this topic, which is the argument for working through it rather than skimming it.
Free to read, with the worked answer and the exam each one came from. The book prints this topic in the order the Commission favours, so these are the ones to know first.
Select the correct answer using the code given below :
Punjab is allotted 7 seats in the Rajya Sabha under the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution. The Punjab Vidhan Sabha, with 117 MLAs, elects its members by proportional representation with a single transferable vote. One-third retire every two years. For comparison, Punjab sends 13 members to the Lok Sabha. Haryana has 5 Rajya Sabha seats and Himachal Pradesh has 3.
Punjab is divided into five administrative divisions, each under a Divisional Commissioner: Patiala, Rupnagar, Jalandhar, Faridkot and Firozpur. The 23 districts are grouped under these divisions.
The Punjab Official Language Act, 1960 was the first language law of the composite (undivided) Punjab: Punjabi became the official language up to district level in the Punjabi region and Hindi in the Hindi region. After the reorganisation of 1 November 1966 the Punjab Official Language Act, 1967 made Punjabi the official language of the new state; it was amended in 2008.
Dr Gopi Chand Bhargava became the first Chief Minister of (East) Punjab in August 1947. Bhim Sen Sachar first held the office in 1949, and again in 1952–56. Partap Singh Kairon was Chief Minister from 1956 to 1964. Beant Singh headed the Congress government from 1992 until his assassination in 1995. So the chronological order is 3, 2, 1, 4.
Both statements are correct. The Economic and Statistical Organisation (ESO), under Punjab's Department of Planning, compiles the state's statistics, advises the government on economic matters for policy-making, and publishes the Statistical Abstract and the state Economic Survey. It is also the state nodal agency for the MPLAD scheme and gives technical support to the District Planning Committees.
The Commission set 5 Administration questions across 8 papers between 2016–2026. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 5 most-asked are on this page free.
Yes. 1 of these 5 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.
Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 5 are in the book, in the same form.
Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.
The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 5 of these plus the rest of the Punjab GK section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.
The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
