231.(A) ਕਿਸੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਂ ਲਿਖਣ ਲਈ ।
ਪੁੱਠੇ ਕਾਮੇ (“ ”) ਉਦੋਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜਿਉਂ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਂ ਲਿਖਣੇ ਹੋਣ; ਜਿਵੇਂ – ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਛੇਤੀ ਘਰ ਆ ਜਾਈਂ।” ਕਿਸੇ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਜਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਉਭਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲਿਖਣਾ (ਅਸਿੱਧਾ ਕਥਨ) ਜਾਂ ਸੋਧਣਾ ਪੁੱਠੇ ਕਾਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ।
