Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru, compiled the Adi Granth at Ramsar in Amritsar and had it installed in the Harmandir Sahib on Bhadon Sudi 1, Samvat 1661 — 16 August 1604 by the common reckoning. Bhai Gurdas was the scribe, and Baba Buddha Ji was appointed the first Granthi. The volume gathered the hymns of the first five Gurus with the compositions of fifteen Bhagats such as Kabir, Namdev, Ravidas and Sheikh Farid, and of the Bhatts and other Gursikhs, arranged by raga. It was Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru, who later added Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's bani at Damdama Sahib in 1705-06 and in 1708 conferred Guruship on the volume as Guru Granth Sahib — so option 1 confuses the final recension with the original compilation. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (option 3) is the contributor, not the compiler, and Guru Angad Dev Ji (option 4) gave the Panth the Gurmukhi script, over fifty years earlier. Answer: option 2.

There is no previous Punjab Police ASI paper. These 36 questions are from the Punjab Police Sub-Inspector and Constable papers (2016–2025) — the same force and largely the same syllabus — which makes them the closest real practice for ASI 2026.
