This page gathers the science, technology and defence facts that come up again and again: India's space programme (ISRO, its missions and rockets), the country's missiles and armed forces and their gallantry awards, famous inventors and discoveries, and the headquarters of important institutions. Almost every question here is a fixed fact — a name, a year, a full form or a city — so these are easy marks once memorised.
India's space programme (ISRO)
The missions, the rockets and the one launch site.

| Mission | Year | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Aryabhata | 1975 | India's first satellite |
| Chandrayaan-1 | 2008 | First Moon mission; found water |
| Mangalyaan (MOM) | 2013 | First Mars mission; success in first try |
| Chandrayaan-2 | 2019 | Moon orbiter; its lander Vikram crash-landed |
| Chandrayaan-3 | 2023 | Soft-landed near Moon's south pole |
| Aditya-L1 | 2023 | India's first solar mission |
| SpaDeX | 2025 | Docked two satellites in space — India the 4th country to do it |
| Axiom-4 | 2025 | Shubhanshu Shukla — first Indian to go to the International Space Station |
| System / orbit | What it is | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| NavIC (earlier IRNSS) | India's own satellite navigation system — like GPS, for India and nearby areas | Finding location, maps, ships |
| Geostationary orbit | About 35,786 km above the equator; the satellite seems to stay over one spot | Weather and communication satellites (INSAT, GSAT) |
| Sun-synchronous orbit | A low orbit over the poles; passes each place at the same time of day | Earth-watching (remote-sensing) satellites |
As of October 2026: ISRO's chairman is V. Narayanan (since January 2025). Gaganyaan is India's own human spaceflight programme — uncrewed test flights come first, then Indian astronauts.
