Anahat Singh Becomes First Indian to Win World Junior Squash Championships

18-year-old Anahat Singh became the first Indian to win the World Junior Squash Championships women's singles title, defeating Egypt's Ruqayya Salem 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-9) in the final at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada. Top-seeded Anahat ended Egypt's long dominance in the event and surpassed Joshna Chinappa's 2005 runner-up finish as India's best-ever result at the championship. Egypt's Mohamad Zakaria retained the men's singles title.

ICC Shifts the Inaugural Women's Champions Trophy 2027 to India

The International Cricket Council approved India as host of the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy 2027, moving it from Sri Lanka, which has yet to complete the governance reforms set out at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2026. Ratified by the ICC Board on 2 September 2026, the six-team tournament runs 14–28 February 2027 at the Cricket Club of India, Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium, Gujarat.
