Gwalior to Host Asia's First Telecom Manufacturing Zone with Rs 5,500 Crore Investment
Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh is set to host Asia's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) with an estimated investment of Rs 5,500 crore. The dedicated zone will cluster telecom equipment makers, component suppliers and testing infrastructure in one location, cutting import dependence in a sector where India still sources a large share of network gear. It complements the PLI scheme for Telecom and Networking Products and the electronics-components push under Make in India, and follows MP's wider industrial outreach through the Global Investors Summit route. For Gwalior, it marks a shift from a largely services and tourism profile toward high-value electronics manufacturing.
