India Donates Five Peacocks to the UN Office at Geneva
The Government of India, through its Permanent Mission to the UN, donated five peacocks to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), Switzerland, reviving a heritage tradition linked to Ariana Park. The group comprises four blue peafowl and one rare white-feathered male, symbolising the UN's blue and white colours. The birds were handed over by Arindam Bagchi, India's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of UNOG. This is India's second such gift, after PM Indira Gandhi donated a breeding pair from Delhi Zoo in 1981.
