Maruti Suzuki Commissions Its First Green Hydrogen Plant, a 300 kW Unit at Manesar Running on Surplus Captive Solar
Maruti Suzuki switched on a 300 kW green hydrogen electrolyser at Manesar on 24 September 2026 — its first — turning otherwise-wasted holiday solar power into a manufacturing process fuel. The pilot plant at the Manesar facility in Haryana makes hydrogen that is blended with natural gas and burned as a process fuel on the shop floor, cutting fossil-fuel use in manufacturing. Its design point is storage-by-conversion: it absorbs solar electricity generated on plant holidays, when that captive renewable power would otherwise go unused. Maruti Suzuki will use the pilot's operating data to judge wider green hydrogen adoption across its plants in Haryana and Gujarat.
