MeitY Rolls Out National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing (NSAM) 2.0 to Scale Up 3D Printing
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has begun rolling out the National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing (NSAM) 2.0, succeeding the first strategy issued in 2022. NSAM 1.0 targeted a 5% share of the global additive-manufacturing market, US$1 billion added to GDP, 50 technologies, 100 startups and 500 products; it trained over 1.54 lakh people, funded 56 startups and produced 65 indigenous technologies across seven national centres. NSAM 2.0 shifts focus to faster intellectual-property generation, a national digital network linking labs, testing and fabrication centres, cluster-based common facility centres for MSMEs, and domestic supply of additive-manufacturing electronics.
