HAL-Samtel JV Opens India's First Public-Private Defence Avionics Facility at Gurugram
Samtel HAL Display Systems Limited (SHDS), a joint venture of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Samtel Avionics, inaugurated a new manufacturing facility at Udyog Vihar Phase-IV, Gurugram, Haryana. It is billed as India's first public-private JV in defence avionics to indigenously design, qualify and serially produce a Multifunction Display (MFD) for a fighter aircraft, and adds testing and quality-assurance capability. HAL CMD Ravi K. launched the plant. Separately, HAL and Safran Helicopter Engines signed the final contract with their JV SAFHAL for the 3,500-4,000 shp new-generation helicopter engine "Aravalli".
