Tamil Nadu Raises CMCHIS Health Insurance Cover to ₹25 Lakh

Tamil Nadu raised the annual health cover under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh, announced in the Assembly under Rule 110 on 19 August 2026, also expanding it to cover transgender persons at seven government medical colleges. The same announcement bundled ₹677.44 crore for the CM's Cancer Care Mission, ₹300 crore for a 400-bed hospital in Perambur, ₹351 crore for seven new nursing colleges, a farm-loan waiver up to ₹75,000 for 1.38 lakh+ farmers, and revised Aavin milk procurement prices.
